Maidstone Rebels

Maidstone Rebels Wheelchair Basketball Club

something

Founded in 2007, Maidstone Rebels is the premier wheelchair basketball club in Kent. After finishing the 2010/11 season as unbeaten champions of the third division south, the team won promotion to the second division, where they now play 2nd division, southern section, of the National Wheelchair Basketball League.

We play our home games at Aylesford Sports School, where we also train on a weekly basis, working on all aspects of the game in order to maintain our challenge as a serious and competitive squad and fulfil our aspirations for future league success. Matches are played at weekends and can entail travelling as far a field as Gloucester and Cardiff.

The club is primarily for wheelchair users with good upper body mobility and coordination; however, able bodied, non-disabled players are also welcome. We currently have a broad mix of players of all abilities and levels of experience (our players include 1st division veterans together with rookies). Male and female players can play together and therefore we would encourage anyone with a passion for, and interest in, wheelchair basketball to get involved by contacting us. Come along to our Saturday training and join in as soon as possible. We also welcome spectators to all our home games and we would be grateful for all your support and encouragement as we aspire to make our mark on the sport of wheelchair basketball.
